News: £2.7bn train-building deal sealed for East Coast line; and made in Durham

“FUNDING has finally been secured to bring new high-speed trains to the main London to Yorkshire route in a £2.7 billion job-boosting contract. The Government announced that a total of 497 carriages for the East Coast line will be built at Hitachi Rail Europe’s purpose-built factory in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, creating 730 jobs.
